Writing a story? Want to make the characters more interesting? Then make one of them a UW-Madison graduate. This weekend will mark the beginning of the last season of the AMC Network television drama, ‘Mad Men’. Debuting in 2007, the program is set in a fictional advertising agency in the late 1950’s, on Madison Avenue, in New York City. At the end of last season the timeframe had progressed to 1969. ‘Mad Men’ has been ranked seventh in a list of the 101 best-written TV series of all time by the Writers Guild of America, and 21st in a list of the sixty greatest dramas of all time, by TV Guide. The UW Community will be interested to know that part of the background of one of the characters, Harry Crane, includes his being a graduate of the UW-Madison.
