The 1st of the 3rd

The 3rd Congress (2016-17 term) of University Staff shared governance held their first business meeting on 15 August. The meeting was chaired by Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Laurent Heller (pictured above) on his first day in his new position.

The Congress also heard from the new Community Relations Director, Leslie Orrantia and was provided an update by Personnel Policies and Procedures Chair, Linda Meinholz.

By a two thirds majority vote the Congress voted to change the name of the ‘Executive Committee’ to the ‘Central Committee’ and to alter the permanent Congressional agenda items in an attempt to make the agenda more inclusive and invite more feedback and participation. The final change to the Bylaws will be made if there is a second affirmative vote at the next Congress meeting which takes place on 19 September.
