The son of a sharecropper and Merchant Marine veteran, Frank Lumpkin, known as ‘The Saint of Chicago’, was an African-American steelworker who organized the ‘Save our Jobs Committee’ on behalf the workers at WISCONSIN STEEL which filed bankruptcy and denied workers their wages.
Upon his death in 2010, Chicago television looked back at Lumpkin’s life of activism.
